CURRENT TRENDS IN I&C DIVERSITY IMPLEMENTATION

This paper discusses how reactor plant instrumentation and control (I&C) diversity implementation is achieved and impacted with evolving U.S. and worldwide diversity regulatory guidelines and requirements. With increased reliance on digitalbased I&C architectures and risk-informed insight methods, diversity regulatory guidelines and requirements are still evolving. In some cases, the regulators are prescribing different methodologies to achieve the common goal of an adequate level of defense in depth through diversity. This paper analyzes differing diversity methodologies to compare and contrast rules as applied to actual diversity implementation on I&C systems.
