Maximizing Profitability With Ecovalue

Green’ product design is a widespread practice amongst the consumer electronics industry. However, it is perceived that the low-hanging fruit has already been picked and, at present, ‘green’ product design suffers some sort of status-qquo. A major issue appears to be the gap between its environmental and managerial dimensions which jeopardize its potential for improved profitability (eenvironmental and economic).. Additionally, traditional ‘green’ product design approaches have neglected the demand side of the supply chain; how consumers spend money. In this paper, the authors argue that the market is a diverse place where functional and intangible product values have the potential to aximize environmental and economic rofitability hen taken into ccount n ‘green’ product design trategies. s esult, a new managerial framework aiming at value creation has been developed. Within value-based strategies, a new Ecoefficiency method called covalue is sed to et esign priorities ased n market egmentation and consumer urchasing power.
