Identification of sheep wool and cashmere based on light microscope
Three recognition methods, the ratio of fibre diameter to scale height, the length ways-radial parameter and the scale right angle thickness, were used to recognize sheep wool, cashmere, and electoral wool from different provenances by an optical differential interference contrast (DIC) microscope in this paper. Error Identification Probabilities (EIPs) of the three methods were calculated. The results showed that the EIPs of the cashmere and sheep wool by the combination of three methods were below 2%, while those of the stretched wool and electoral wool were below 5%.
