Effect of maleic anhydride grafted poly (ethylene-octene) on non-isothermal crystallization kinetics of PTT

New toughened poly (trimethylene terephthalate) (PTT) materials were obtained by melt blending with maleic anhydride grafted poly (ethylene-octene) (POEg). The effect of POEg on the non-isothermal crystallization kinetics of poly (trimethylene terephthalate) (PTT) was investigated by DSC. The Avrami and the Ozawa Equations were used to describe the non-isothermal crystallization process of pure PTT and PTT/POEg blends with various amounts of POEg (0-30 wt%). The Avrami analysis results show that the small addition of POE-g-MA decreases the degree of crystallinity of pure PTT. The Ozawa analysis can describe the non-isothermal crystallization of pure PTT very well, but it was rather inapplicable for the PTT/POEg blends.
