Mathematical model of the air jet flow field of the annular die in the melt blowing process
In this paper, the mathematical model of the air jet flow field of the annular die of melting blowing for polymer nonwoven fabrics was established. The flow field model was solved by using the finite difference method. The simulation results of the distributions of the air velocity and air temperature coincided with the experimental data. The air drawing of polymers in the melt blowing process was simulated with the aid of the simulation results of the air jet flow field. The predicted fiber diameter tallied well with the experimental data. Effects of the initial air velocity and initial air temperature on the fiber diameter were also studied. The results showed that there should be great potential for this research in the field of computer assisted design in the melt blowing technology.
