Study on deformation of spherulite of PP prepared by simple pressure field

In this paper, the toughening of PP was gained through deformation of spherulite in simple pressure field. A series of testing methods, including impact test, POM and DSC, were applied to characterize the relationship between spherulite structures and mechanical properties of PP. The impact test results showed that the impact resistance of PP obtained a rapid increase after pressure. POM suggested that the spherulite of PP had deformed into ellipsoid even belt and lamellae had aligned along the flowing orientation, which were the main reason of self-toughening. The curve of DSC indicated that the initial melt point decreased because of the partial ruptures of crystal.
