Determination of phase separation trajectory in the wet spinning process of PAN fiber
The phase separation trajectory of PAN-DMSO-H2O ternary phase diagram was determined with dynamic component analysis method and the phase separation mechanisms in the wet spinning process of PAN fiber were demonstrated. As the results suggested, with given spinning conditions, during the PAN fiber forming process the solid concentration in the system increased and the phase separation trajectory was above the critical point. The phase separation trajectory was a curve with an inflexion, which indicated the phase separation could be divided into two stages. From the “starting point, the compositions of this system went firstly into miscibility region, then past through the metastable region, and ultimately entered into unstable region. Correspondingly, the phase separation kinetic ways changed from by nucleation and growth of a polymer-poor phase to by spinodal decomposition.
