The performance of PSA fibers after chemical treatment

Polysulfonamide (PSA) fiber has excellent resistance performance. Based on surface morphology and TGA experiments, the degradation phenomena of PSA fibers after chemical treatment are discussed in detail. The results show that the surface of PSA fibers become irregular and some grooves occur on fiber surface after treated with 30% sulphuric acid (85 , 24h) ℃orwith 5% sodium hydroxide (85 , ℃12h). During the chemical treatment, PSA fibers also begin to degrade. There are two pyrolysis peaks on DTG curve of acid treated PSA fiber and there is one pyrolysis peak on DTG curve of alkali treated PSA fiber. Compared with the original fiber, the mass loss rates of acid treated PSA fibers are much lower and the rates of alkali treated PSA fibers are much faster.
