Study on rheological property of different poly (phenylene sulfide)s materials

Steady shear flow properties of different poly(phenylene sulfide)s materials were examined using a capillary rheometer. Studies were carried out in the temperature range of 310 ℃ to 360 ℃ and shear rate range of 100s -1 to 5000s -1. The shear viscosity was found to be increased for LPPS when the shear rate was in 100~218s -1 range. And it would decrease at higher shear rate. However, the shear viscosity of HPPS decreased with the shear rate increasing. It was also noted that the viscous activation energy was affected by the shear rate and temperature. And the spinnability of different materials were evaluated by the structure viscosity index.
