The false twist compact drafting technique for cotton ring spinning and optimization design of its device
In order to increase the tenacity and reduce the unevenness and hairiness of cotton yarn, a newly developed false twist compact drafting technique for cotton ring spinning machines was proposed in this study, along with a special designed false twist device to accomplish this technique. Three most important structural parameters of the device and their effects on unevenness, hairiness index, breaking strength and breaking elongation of resultant yarns were studied and optimized by the response surface methodology. The results showed that this device could improve yarn quality to some extent, in spinning 29.5 tex carded cotton yarn on a laboratory spintester, when the rotational speed ratio of the false twist tube was 0.37, the gauge of the false twist tube was 11 mm and the curvature radius of the strand channel was 18.3 mm, the resultant yarn could achieve a rather higher quality.
