SBR/BR blend reinforced by modified silica with KH-550
The styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) and cis-butadiene rubber (BR) blend was modified with adding across-linking agent to improve their compatibilities, and the mechanical properties were also reinforced by modified the silica with the r-aminopropyl trie-thoxysilane (KH-550). The optimum formula and process parameters were determined by testing the properties of SBR/BR blend. The results showed that the mechanical and thermal properties were the best when SBR/BR was 80/20, and the cure conditions were at 150 o C under 10MPa for 25min. The physical properties could be modified obviously with KH-550, the properties would be the best when KH-550 was 2.5 phr. The new across-linking bond was formed between SBR and BR by analyzing FTIR spectrogram, and the mechanical and thermal properties of vulcanizate were improved significantly.
