Studies on degradation behaviors of bacterial cellulose in 1-N-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride
In this research, 1-N-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride (BmimCl) ionic liquid (IL) was used to dissolve the bacterial cellulose (BC). The degradation behavior of BC in IL was studied, and the effects of dissolution temperature and time were investigated. Moreover, viscosity measurements and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) were applied to measure the properties of both the original and regenerated samples. The results suggested that the average degree of polymerization (DP) would be reduced because of increasing dissolution temperature or time.
