Properties of toughened degraded polypropylene with EPDM
In this paper, the peroxide was used to degrade polypropylene (PP). Toughened degraded polypropylene with ethylene-propylene-diene monomer (EPDM) and its brittle-ductile transition(BDT) of degraded PP/EPDM blends were studied. It was found that increasing temperature and EPDM content have equivalent effects on the BDT of degraded PP /EPDM blends. A correlation was found between the BDT temperature (TBD) of degraded PP/EPDM blends and EPDM content, the TBD of degraded PP/EPDM blends will decrease with the EPDM content increased. At the same time, we also obtained the relationships between degraded polypropylene/EPDM blends and impact-strength, tensile-strength, extension at break proportion and fracture energy.
