Numerical analysis of air gap effect on PAN as-spun fiber formation in dry-jet wet spinning

This paper is devoted to a mathematical model for dry-jet wet spinning process based on PAN/DMSO system. The concentration profile both in air gap and in the coagulation bath of the as-spun fiber is calculated using different spinning parameters. The effect of air gap on the mutual diffusion in the coagulation bath is also demonstrated and the simulation results show that the existence of the air gap will reduce concentration gradient in the radial direction of the as-spun fiber during coagulating.
