Characterization of stretch elongation and elastic recovery of PTT/PET bicomponent filament

Typical load-elongation curves of three types of original and wet-heat treated Polytrimethylene terephthalate (PTT)/Polyethylene terephthalate(PET) self-crimping filaments with same linear density and different components ratio were obtained by yarn tensile test. Their elastic recovery was studied and discussed. The results showed that crimp elongation greatly contributed to the high elongation property of PTT/PET filaments, especially for the wet-heat treated filaments. Both the intrinsic filaments and the crimp configuration of PTT/PET filaments had prominent elastic recovery property.
