Study on the surface modification of technora fiber
In this research, terephthaloyl chloride(TPC) solution with different concentration was used to modify surface of Technora fibers. The fibers before and after treatment were characterized with scanning electron microscopy (SEM), tensile measurement, infrared spectroscopy, interfacial shear strength (IFSS) and capillary immersion. From SEM micrographs, the TPC treated fibers have a rougher surface than that of untreated fiber. The tensile strength Technora fiber appreciably decreases with the increase of concentration of TPC. The IFSS of the fiber/epoxy composite and immergence length in Methylene blue solution were measured. The results show that the IFSS and immergence length of the treated sample can be improved.
