The effect of ultraviolet stabilizer on the UV stability of poly (p-phenylene benzobisoxazole) fibers

A ultraviolet stabilizer, 2,2’-(1,2-Ethenediyldi-4,1-phenylene) bisbenzoxazole (TM), was added with different content during the polymerization of poly(p-phenylene benzobisoxazole) (PBO). The obtained PBO/TM/PPA dope was directly spun via a dry-jet wet-spinning process. The UV stability of the fibers was investigated under the condition of UV accelerated aging. The results showed that only addition of TM with a percentage of 0.2 could improve the UV stability of PBO fiber obviously.
