Study of properties of molding plastics of motor commutator improved by glass fiber

As the molding plastics of motor commutator and insulator, it should have excellent properties of heat resistance, insulation, dimensional stability, flame retardancy and high mechanical strength under high temperature. In this paper, the effects of glass fiber content on the properties of phenolic molding plastics were investigated. The results indicated that with the increasing content of glass fiber, the mechanical properties, heat distortion temperature and dimensional stability of the phenolic molding plastics were improved respectively, while the glass fiber content had little effects on the electrical properties, combustion performance and water absorption. When the content of glass fiber was 50%, the performance of the phenolic molding plastics could satisfy the industry application requirements.
