Studies on gelation of PAN/DMF solution and properties of the fibers
Carbon Fiber (CF) is an advanced material widely used in all kinds of fields. However, the holes and skin-core structure in the fiber formed during the spinning process block the fibers high performance. In order to find an effective way to solve this problem, a non-solvent additive (EG) was added into the PAN/DMF solution, which became gel during the coagulation bath in a very short time. The rheological data indicated that EG was an effective gel promoter in solution. SEM was used to characterize the cross-section of the fiber, and the results showed that there had no skin-core structure and holes in the fiber.
