Coupled heat and moisture transfer properties of new regenerated cellulosic fabrics

To avoid disturb the coupled heat and moisture transfer properties of fabrics by traditional direct contact measurement using temperature sensors, a new method using infrared camera was developed to measure fabric surface temperature without disturbing fabric surface status. The non-contact method was used in this paper to investigate the heat and moisture coupling transfer characteristics in fabrics of new regenerated fibres such as soybean and Modal. The results indicated that soybean, Modal and their mixed fabrics had similar interaction of coupled heat and moisture transfer in fabrics. By clustering analysis of the changed temperature parameters of fabrics, two indexes, Ks and Δ Tmax, were introduced to evaluate the interaction of coupled heat and moisture transfer. Ks described the increasing of moisture heat temperature, while Δ Tmax is the maximal difference between the dry heat temperature and the moist heat temperature of fabrics.
