Synthesis and characterization of a novel preceramic polymer to Si/B/N/C ceramic fiber

A novel preceramic polymer to Si/B/N/C fiber was obtained via co-condensation polymerization between the monomer Si(CH3NH)4 and B(CH3NH)3, which were prepared from NH2CH3 and SiCl4, NH2CH3 and BCl 3 , respectively. The monomers and preceramic polymer were investigated by means of NMR, FTIR and EA. The results showed the monomers were in accordance with the expected structure of Si (CH3NH)4 and B (CH3NH)3. The preceramic polymer exhibits Si-N and B-N bonds while the monomer units were linked through -N(CH3)-.
