High optical transparency and low dielectric constant of organosoluble polyamide based on 1,2-Bis-(4-amino-2-trifluoromethylphenoxy) benzene

A novel fluorinated polyamide was prepared from an aromatic diamine containing trifluoromethyl group (-CF3), 1,2-bis(4-amino-2-trifluoromethylphenoxy)benzene, and aromatic dicarboxylic acids(OBA) by using phosphorylation polycondensation. The fluorinated polyamide was obtained with inherent viscosities 0.78 dL/g. The fluorinated polyamide shows outstanding solubility and can be easily dissolved in amide-type polar aprotic solvents (e.g., N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP), Dimethylacetamide (DMAc), and Dimethylformamide (DMF)) and even dissolved in less polar solvents (e.g., pyridine, and tetrahydrofuran). Flexible and tough polymer films can be easily prepared by casting films from DMAc solvent. The fluorinated polyamide films exhibited high optical transparency with a cut off wavelength of 336 nm. It also showed high glass transition temperatures at 231℃. Furthermore it exhibits good thermal stability, and the 10% weight loss temperatures is 464℃ in nitrogen atmosphere. The obtained polyamide films possessed low dielectric constants of 2.99 at 1 MHz.
