Development of knitted structures based on biomimetics for comfort clothing
Natures hierarchical structure was mimicked to develop a superb water absorption and transmission rate structure in textile materials. In this paper, effort was given to develop different kinds of hierarchical knitted structure fabrics due to the hierarchical biological materials, such as the wood in the branch or the bone in the vertebra. As evaluated by absorption and transmission experiments, the novel structures exhibited faster initial water absorption and water transmission rate compared to conventional knitted materials. Therefore, the functional material is ideal for improving the transport ability of sweat from the skin. This work produced a better hierarchical structure knitted material which can be applied in developing superb liquid absorption and water transmission.
