The study on chitosan-graft-n-isopropylacrylamide- based thermosensitive membranes
In this paper, chitosan grafted poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) copolymer (CS-g-NIPAAm) was synthesized. The CS-g-NIPAAm membrane was prepared and its swelling behavior was investigated. The phase transition of the membrane was reversible and phase transition temperature was approximately 34℃ measured by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) using water-saturated membrane as test sample. The swelling ratios were measured at various temperatures(25~45℃). It was found that the swelling ratios decreased with increasing temperature. Membranes swelled below the low critical solution temperature (LCST), and rapidly de-swelled above the LCST.
