Melt-spun PVDF hollow fiber membrane with PEO as pore formation agent
The structure and properties of melt-spun PVDF hollow fiber membrane were studied in this article. Results showed that with PEO as pore formation agent, the PVDF hollow fiber membrane with high permeability was obtained after melt-spinning and proper extraction processes. The membranes have a pure water flux of 1050 L.m-2.h-1 (0.1MPa) with the porosity higher than 50%. SEM images of the membranes showed that the PEO distributed evenly in the membrane as micro fibrous. The properties of the membranes changed with the molecular weight of PEO. DSC results showed that the melting point of PVDF increased after removing PEO and diluent. The DMA-tanδ curves exhibited wide peak in both the hollow fiber membrane before treatment by water-alcohol-water extraction and the PVDF hollow fiber membrane finally obtained.
