Research on compliance of vascular prostheses under the simulated human artery blood pressure waveform
Vascular compliance is one of the most important characterization indexes of vascular prostheses, which is defined as the ability of prostheses to elastically expand and contract in the circumferential direction in response to a pulsatile pressure. We have developed a novel vascular compliance measure device. It can test the compliance of vascular prostheses in the simulated in vivo environment of human body such as artificial blood circulation, body temperature, especially the artery pulsatile blood pressure waveform. This paper reports research on experimental compliance of vascular prostheses in the simulated in vivo environment and analyzed the difference between the compliance values of the same sample under human artery blood pressure waveform and simple triangle pressure waveform. Two waveforms have the same minimum-maximum pressure. This work helps to make a comparison and find out a test method which approach to the real working situation after vascular prostheses implanted into human body. The test results provide more meaningful directions to vascular prostheses’ clinical application and product designing.
