Chitosan/bacterial cellulose composite membrane for separation of bovine serum albumin
In this paper, chitosan/BC (CBC) membrane was prepared by immersing bacterial cellulose (BC) into chitosan solution after cross-linking. The obtained CBC membranes were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Moreover, the tensile properties were characterized and the CBC membranes’ separation capacity for bovine serum albumin (BSA) were tested. The resultant CBC membranes have better tensile strength (72.9 MPa), compared to that of BC (65 MPa). The filtering capacity of CBC membrane for BSA is 82.9%. It indicates CBC membrane have a bright application prospect as a filtering material.
