Synthesis and characterization of EuL3/2(phen)·H2O ternary luminescent complex
The ternary luminescent complex of europium (Ⅲ)-phthalic acid (H2L)-1,10-phenanthroline (phen) was successfully synthesized in this paper. The chemical formula of the synthesized complex was speculated to be EuL3/2(phen)·H2O by elemental analysis, inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). TG-DTA indicated that the complex is thermally stable up to 454℃. XRD pattern of EuL3/2(phen)·H2O indicated that it was a new crystalline complex since that the diffraction angle, diffraction intensity and the distance of crystal plane were all different from those of the two ligands. SEM images showed that the complex was well crystallized and in block shape with good dispersivity. The synthesized complex exhibited the characteristic emission bands for the Eu (Ⅲ) ion under ultraviolet excitation by the photoluminescence analyses.
