PTFE Film Yarn Properties Achieved From PTFE Film Processing Technology

In this paper the PTFE film yarn was produced from PTFE split film by ring spinning method. Various spinning parameters such as roller gauge, spindle speed, twist factor, draft ratio and film width were optimized on ring spinning frame. The microstructure, physical and mechanical properties, thermal performance of PTFE film yarn were tested by SEM, YG061 tensile tester, TG and DSC. Under the SEM the longitudinal view of PTFE film yarn shows quite regular cylinder and the cross section is polygon. The PTFE film yarn still kept high mechanical performance after being treated at 260℃ for 8h. The PTFE film yarn has superior thermal-resistant performance. During the heating treatment, the weight loss occurs at 500℃-607.75℃ and reaches the maximum at 577.8℃. And the glass transition temperature of PTFE film yarn is 120.92℃.
