Study of electron density in wool fabric LTP finishing

The measurements of electron density and electron temperature of plasma by double electron probe during the low temperature plasma treatment of wool fabrics were studied. The relationship between electron density with the power, pressure and time of low temperature plasma (LTP) treatment was discussed. The effects on the wool fabrics shrinkage were studied. The results show that the measurement angle of the double electrostatic probe and the area of the treated fabrics influences greatly on the measurement of the electron density. The felt-proof property of wool fabrics treated with argon plasma is better than that of nitrogens. The gas, power and pressure of LTP treatment all affect the electron density. The electron density increases with the increasing of power and pressure. When the power and pressure of LTP treatment are maintained at certain levels, the electron density does not change significantly with time.
