Structure and properties of electrospun regenerated tussah silk fibroin fibers
The tussah silk fibroin (TSF) ultrafine fibers have been prepared by electrospinning. The effects of the electrospinning parameters such as voltage and capillary-screen distance(C-SD) on structure and properties of the ultrafine fibers were studied by SEM, FTIR and the mechanical measurements. SEM results showed that the morphology structure of electrospun fibers under the voltage of 12kV and C-SD of 10cm was much better than that of other spinning conditions, and the average diameter of fibers was between 100 and 200nm. While the results of FTIR showed that the transition of molecular conformation of electrospun TSF fibers was little when changing spinning parameters. The mechanical measurements of TSF mats showed that intermolecular interaction was varied with various electrospinning parameters and it reached its maximum at voltage of 12kV and C-SD of 10cm.
