Synthesis and characterization of poly(3-hexylthiophene)- block-polystyrene for photovoltaic device
The block copolymer,poly(3-hexylthiophene)-block-polystyrene (P3HT-b-PS) which can be used for highly efficient polymer solar cell was synthesized by Suzuki coupling reaction between P3HT and PS homopolymers. The regioregular P3HT and the PS were prepared by Grignard metathesis polymerization and atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP), respectively. The products were characterized by gel permeation chromatography (GPC), and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). UV-vis absorption spectra of P3HT-b-PS revealed that incorporation of PS caused max absorption wavelength red shifted in films.
