Research on wear behavior of organic cotton/ spandex knitted fabrics

In this paper, the main wear behavior of the knitted fabrics made by organic cotton/spandex and other materials is tested and analyzed. The results indicate that the air permeability and drapability of the knitted fabric made from organic cotton/spandex are better than those of the common cotton/spandex fabric, but they are worse than those of the fabric made from bamboo pulp fiber/spandex. The bursting strength and the pilling resistance of the fabric knitted from organic cotton/spandex are both lower than those of the common cotton/spandex fabric. The water vapor transmission is similar to that of the common cotton/spandex fabric and modal/spandex fabric, and it is worse than that of bamboo pulp fiber/spandex fabric. In order to enhance the performance of the organic cotton fabric, two suggestions should be mentioned during developing the organic cotton products, one is selecting and cultivating the excellent breed of organic cotton fiber, the other is improving the production process by blending different kind of fiber, interweaving and finishing technology.
