Study on tensile properties of biodegradable poly(butylene succinate- co-butylene terephthalate) (PBST) fibers after heat-setting
Biodegradable poly(butylene succinate-co-butylene terephthalate) (PBST) fibers are heat-set on Parallel Draw Machine with the draw ratio of 1.59-1.95 at the heat roller temperature of 50-80℃ and hot plate temperature of 110-155℃. The effects of heat-setting conditions on the tensile properties of PBST fibers are investigated. The results show that the impact of the draw ratio is more obvious than that of heat roller temperature and hot plate temperature. With the increase of draw ratio, the breaking strength increases and the elongation at break decreases. With the increase of heat roller temperature, the breaking strength and the elongation at break increase. With increase of hot plate temperature, the trend of breaking strength is unclear and the elongation at break initially increases and then shows a slight fall. The breaking strength reaches its maximum value of 2.04cN/dtex when the draw ratio is 1.95 while the heat roller and hot plate temperature is 70℃ and 140℃, respectively. The effects of heat-setting conditions on the tensile properties of PBST fibers are correlated with fiber sound velocity and crystallinity.
