Synthesis and characterization of thermoplastic polyamide elastomer based on poly(tetramethylene glycol), ε-caprolactam and adipic acid
In this paper, polyether(ester-amide) (PEEA) segmented block copolymers were synthesized by two-step melt polymerization method from ε-caprolactam, poly(tetramethylene glycol) (PTMG), and adipic acid. The obtained copolymers were characterized by FTIR. Mechanical and thermal properties of obtained PEEA copolymers were studied by DMA, tensile testing, DSC and TGA. The results showed that Tg of obtained PEEA was lower than -50℃ and melting point was about 216℃. The working temperature range of PEEA was no more than 200℃ and PEEA was stable in this temperature range. With the increase of PTMG content or decrease of caprolactam content, the tensile strength decreased accordingly and the breaking elongation increased, while Tg, Tm and rubber plateau of copolymers didn’t have evident changes according to DMA and DSC.
