Applications of PPy and PPy/MMT composite as microwave absorbing and shielding materials
The complex permittivity and microwave absorption properties of polypyrrole/epoxy (PPy/EP) and polypyrrole/montmorillonite/epoxy (PPy/MMT/EP) composite were investigated in X-band (8.2-12.4GHz) frequency range. The PPy/MMT composite was prepared by in-situ chemical polymerization. Complex permittivity and permeability were measured using a network analyzer (HP8722ES). The reflection loss of PPy/MMT/epoxy and PPy/epoxy were calculated according to the model of a single-layered wave absorber backed by a perfect conductor. The prepared composite can fruitfully be utilized for suppression of electromagnetic interference (EMI) and reduction of radar signatures.
