Preparation and characterization of ZAO powder and its application in infrared stealth

Al-doped zinc oxide, was a novel and widely used transparent conductive material. The ZAO powder was synthesized by sol-gel method. The morphologies, microstructure, crystallization and infrared emissivity of the obtained ZAO powder were characterized by SEM, XRD, particle size analysis, infrared spectra and emissivity emissometer respectively. XRD measurements showed that the ZAO powder was hexagonal system. The crystal structure of ZnO phase was not influenced basically when Al3+was doped in, and the shift of the diffraction angle was supposed to be resulted from the replacement of Al3+for Zn2+resulting in distortion of crystal lattice. From the SEM images, the particle shape of ZAO powder was rod-like or similar one shape, and with the increasing Al3+doping content, anomalous shape also increased. The infrared spectra indicated that the infrared absorbency of ZAO powder changed with the added Al3+content. A synthetic material having low infrared emissivity could be obtained by controlling carrier concentration of ZAO. Then it was valuable to be applied in research field of low emissivity infrared hidden coat.
