The effects of Inorganic salt (LiCl) on the electrospun polyimide nanofibers
Electrospinning is a straightforward method for manufacturing nanofibers. In this paper, the PI ultrafine fibers were prepared by electrospinning of poly (amic acid) solution, a precursor of polyimide. We improved the electrical conductivity of the solution by adding inorganic salt (LiCl). The fiber diameters of the PAA were statisticed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images. As a result, the fiber diameters from solution with salt were much smaller than the ones not added. Uniform fiber mats with diameters ranging from a few tens of nanometers to several micrometers were obtained, and the PAA nanofibers were successfully imidized into PI nanofibers.
