Study on Modification of Poly(vinyl chloride) by Poly(methyl methacrylate/methylacrylate) /organo- montmorillonite Nanocomposite
Poly(methyl methacrylate/methylacrylate)/organo-montmorillonite (P(MMA-MA)/OMMT) nanocomposites was prepared in this paper. The composite was applied to modify poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC). The structure, compatibility, thermal stability and mechanical properties of the modified material were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), tensile test and impact test dynamical mechanical thermal analysis (DMA) respectively. The results showed that the blend exhibited fine compatibility. The thermal stability of the modified PVC was improved with addition of P(MMA-MA)/OMMT nanocomposites. The addition of the nanocomposites also improved the mechanical property of blends.
