Synthesis and characterization of nanocomposites of PLLA with surface modified hydroxyapatite nanoparticles

The PLLA/g-HA composites were successfully prepared via ultrasonic-aided solution compounding using the surface-grafted Hydroxyapatite (g-HA) as a compatibilizer. The interaction between g-HA and PLLA and the properties of composites were investigated by FT-IR, TGA, POM, DMA and bending property testing. The results showed that the PLLA molecules grafted on the HA surface played an important role in improving the dispersion of g-HA in PLLA matrix and the interfacial adhesive strength of composites. The glass transition temperature of PLLA/g-HA increased remarkably and the mechanical property of nanocomposites was enhanced perfectly.
