Numerical Simulation and Analysis of a Propeller’s Flow Noise

The flow noise is a main part of the propellers’ radiated noise. Based on the numerical method of LES(large eddy simulation), the turbulence and vorticity generated by the propeller is simulated. The FW-H(The Ffowcs Williams and Hawkings Acoustic Model)is added for the simulation of the unsteady flow-field and noise-field. The near-field and farfield flow noise of the propeller is analyzed. The results show that the acoustic characters of the flow noise is related closely with the turbulence and the vorticiyt of the flow filed. The power spectral are mainly in the low frequency range.
