Subcritical Penetration of Acoustic Waves into Inhomogenous Seabed
In this paper, acoustic penetration into inhomogeneous seabed is modeled and analyzed by numerical simulation for different grazing angles, especially at grazing angles below the critical angle. The model is developed incorporating contributions from both sound speed and density fluctuations. The results shown that scatter produced by sound speed and density fluctuation can produce subcritical penetration of acoustic waves for some inhomogenous seabed models and datum.
