Effects of physical activity frequency and adiposity level on body composition and fitness in children

Background The prevalence of pediatric obesity has increased significantly in developed and developing countries over last three decades. It has been recommended that children participate in moderate-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) at least 60 minutes on most days of the week. There however is a limited literature that relates frequency of MVPA with improvement in body composition and fitness in children. Even less is known on whether the recommendation is appropriate for children of different adiposity levels.
