Path analysis between personality traits and dispositional and state flow
Introduction Flow is defined as optimal psychological state characterised by concentration on the task at hand. Several personality traits, such as motivation, anxiety, goal orientation (Jackson, Kimiecik, Ford, & Marsh, 1998), self-concept, and psychological skills (Jackson, Thomas, Marsh, & Smethurst, 2001) have been examined as variables underlying flow. A variety of personality traits have not been, or rarely tested, on their influence on dispositional and state flow. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of personality traits, including action control, imagery use, absorption, and confidence, on dispositional and state flow.
