Effects of object speed and range of limb movement on coincident timing performance

Introduction Coincident timing or anticipation is essential to the successful performance of sport skills in the unpredictable and constant changing environment. In real world sport settings, the performer is often required to time not only the speed of an object but also his/her own limb or body movements in order to accurately anticipate an oncoming object or event. In the present study, an attempt was made to investigate the effects of different object speeds and ranges of limb movement on coincident timing performance of male and female college student athletes. The secondary purpose of the study was to examine gender and feedback differences in the performance of the coincident timing skill.
