Healthy children in sound communities (HCSC): An integrated setting concept and community networked strategy to prevent obesity and sedentary lifestyles in children
Introduction Several European reviews on the epidemic of obesity and sedentary lifestyles recommend (cf. Brettschneider & Naul 2004; Brettschneider & Naul 2007) a multi-sector network strategy on community level to counteract the decrease of physical activities and the increase of overweight and obesity. This HCSC-strategy implements a typical setting approach for primary school children which links physical education with the subject of science (teaching about the role of PA and nutrition for health) at school with a range of extra-curricular physical activities within the local community (e.g. sport clubs).
