Competitive table tennis and swimming performance in athletes with LD in relation to cognitive, physical and IQ test scores
Introduction Classification of athletes with learning disabilities (LD) remains an unsolved problem that continues to hinder the access of athletes with LD to the Paralympics and other high level international events. Eligibility is currently determined chiefly by evidence of an IQ score below 75. However, the relationship between the cognitive functions underlying IQ scores and competitive sports performance in athletes with LD has never been directly investigated.
