Childrens physical fitness levels who participate in recreational Taekwondo
Introduction Most studies on Taekwondo have been carried out on adult athletes (Toskovic et al., 2004) and research on Malaysian Taekwondo participants is lacking. Suzana and Pieter (2006) reported improvements in almost all motor abilities tested in elite junior (15-16 years) Malaysian Taekwondo athletes after an intervention. Erie et al. (2007) found sexual dimorphism in physical fitness of recreationally active adolescent (17 years) Malaysian Taekwondo practitioners, even after allometric scaling. No information is available on children engaged in Taekwondo younger than those already investigated. The purpose of this study, therefore, was to assess physical fitness in Malaysian children participating in Taekwondo.
