Potassium and post-exercise rehydration
Introduction It is well established that for effective and efficient post-exercise rehydration, an appropriate water volume must be consumed (Shirreffs et al, 1996) and the sodium lost in the sweat must be replaced (Shirreffs & Maughan, 1998). Sodium is the main electrolyte in the extracellular space whilst potassium is the main electrolyte in the intracellular space.
