Participation of Polish youth in various areas of physical activity
Introduction Systematic physical activity determines human development because it has a positive impact on health and life quality. Improving and maintaining physical activity in children and youth provides both immediate and long-term health benefits (Rowland 2007). Physical activity should play a stimulating factor resulting in actuating the human body. It also enriches personality and mental development. Therefore, physical inactivity among children and youth may lead to disorder of their physical and mental development (Bielski 1996). Furthermore, children and youth are a particularly important group, as low levels of physical activity in childhood have been linked with low levels in adulthood (Brunton, Harden et al. 2003). At this age the dynamics of physiological, mental and social growth are at the highest.
